Capturing Everyday Joy: An In-Home Family Photography Session in OKC
In-home family photography truly has my heart — it’s all about preserving life as it happens, in the spaces where your most cherished memories are made. When I had the chance to photograph this sweet family in their home, it was the perfect mix of love, laughter, and little moments that matter most.
This session came with a special connection to a cause close to my heart. I donated it to the Wingin’ It fundraiser for Wings, an incredible organization serving adults with developmental disabilities in the OKC and Edmond communities. Wings makes such a difference in the lives of so many, and I was thrilled to support them while also getting to know this beautiful family.
Why in-home photography sessions are so special
When I met this family, they were in a sweet season. Mom was pregnant with baby #3, with a 3-year-old and a 1-year-old. Through my pre-session survey, Mom shared her vision for the photos. She wanted to to preserve their children’s smallness, the love they share as siblings, and the playful energy that fills their home.
Knowing this might be her last pregnancy, Mom wanted every detail to reflect their family as they are right now—busy, loving, and full of joy.
Sweet Playful Moments (and a Goldendoodle Cameo)
The kids were brimming with energy! They were running, laughing, and playing with pure joy. Capturing their carefree spirits and the sweet bond they share as siblings was an absolute highlight of the session.
And then there was their lovable Goldendoodle, who made the perfect furry addition to the photos. The pup’s cameo in the entryway added so much charm and personality to the session. Pets are always welcome in my in-home shoots because they’re such an important part of your family—and their playful energy always adds another layer of warmth and authenticity to the images.
Baking Memories in the Kitchen
One of the best parts of in-home family sessions is incorporating activities that are meaningful to your family. For this session, Mom mentioned how much her kids love helping in the kitchen, so we wrapped up the shoot by baking Rice Krispie treats together!
It was the sweetest scene—little hands stirring and helping with giggles echoing. These candid moments are what make in-home sessions so special.
A Connection That Grew
After this session, the family reached out to me again to book an outdoor newborn session for baby #3. Building long-term relationships with families is one of my favorite parts of being a photographer. Capturing their milestones over time is such an honor. I couldn’t have been more excited to continue documenting their story.
