I’ve had this conversation so many times. A mom will message me saying she wanted fall photos but ran out of time. She’s half-apologetic, half-exhausted, and mentions with optimism that maybe next year will be better. And here’s what I tell her every single time: You didn’t miss the boat. You might just be a spring or summer family at heart. Spring family photos might be exactly what your season needs.
Hey friend – welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. I’m Haley Kinize! I’ve been capturing families like yours for years, and through it all I’ve realized just how precious this season is. Time is sneaky; it slips past our littles while we’re looking away.
My goal? To freeze the moments you’ll want to remember long after the kids have grown. The laughs. The hugs. The whispered “I love you’s.” The footsie games in the grass.
If this sounds like something you’re longing for, I can’t wait to get to know your family and create something meaningful together.

Somewhere along the way, fall became the default season for family photos. Maybe it’s the golden leaves, maybe it’s the Christmas card deadlines, but most families assume that if it’s not October or November, they’ve missed their moment.
The truth? Fall isn’t the only time to capture your family. It’s just the loudest time. (TBH!)
Fall is lovely, but it’s also layered with busyness. Between sports schedules, school events, and holidays peeking around the corner, fall can start to feel like a sprint.
And if that is your fall season, you deserve a season that feels less like a rush and more like a breath of fresh air.

Every year, when the trees start to bloom and the evenings stretch longer, something shifts.
Life slows down. Kids play outside after dinner. The air feels lighter.
Spring gives you margin.
It gives you warmth and softness, both in the weather and the images.
It gives you time to prepare without pressure.
And when families book in this rhythm, I can always feel it in their sessions. The laughter is unhurried. The smiles are easy. The kids are just…kids.

There are things photographers notice that most families don’t think about at first.
1. The light is softer.
Spring and early summer have a glow that flatters every skin tone. The greens photograph fresh, not harsh, and the tones translate beautifully to wall art.
2. The wardrobe options are easier.
Light fabrics, bare feet, and flowy dresses capture motion and personality. Kids are comfortable. Everyone looks and feels at ease.
3. The weather cooperates.
No one is shivering or swatting mosquitoes in nearly ninety-degree fall heat while wearing sweaters. And spring breezes and golden evenings make it easier for little ones to stay engaged.
4. The emotional space is bigger.
There tends to be more bandwidth in this season, less rushing, fewer competing obligations. For the family that has a really full fall schedule, you show up ready to enjoy it, not just get through it!

If spring is a deep breath, summer is the long exhale.
Evenings are slower.
Bedtimes stretch a little later.
There’s room to play barefoot in a field and linger past sunset.
Summer sessions feel like nostalgia – warm light, giggles, freckles, movement.
It’s a season of ease, where the only goal is to enjoy each other.
For families with young kids, summer sessions are especially magical. Littles are out of school, schedules are looser, and everyone feels lighter.
And when that ease shows up in your gallery, it becomes the difference between a “photo session” and a memory you can feel.

Every fall, my calendar fills faster than almost any other time of year and it’s not because of pressure, but simply because of math.
There are simply fewer weekends, shorter daylight hours, and unpredictable weather. Between school and holidays, there just isn’t room for every family who wants a date.
So when moms reach out in late October, feeling like they missed their window, I always remind them: You didn’t miss it. You just have more options than you think and maybe spring family photos is the best fit for you.

Booking spring family photos isn’t about being “on top of it.”
When you plan early, you gain:
You’re not alone. Every mom has said it at least once.
But what if next year could start sooner?
What if you didn’t have to wait until next fall to have meaningful family photos?
Spring and summer give you a chance to begin from fullness instead of fatigue.
You get to plan with intention, not hurry.

Choosing a lighter season means you gain margin; and margin always translates into more meaningful images.
You’ll notice it in:
This isn’t about catching up.
It’s about creating space for what matters!

I’m currently booking spring family photos in January–April, and May–August session dates will be released first to my newsletter family in March!
By joining the newsletter, you’ll receive first access to choose a date before everything fills up. You’re not committing to anything – it’s simply a gentle hold on your place so you can book before the public calendar opens.
Newsletter families receive:

Family portraits shouldn’t feel like one more thing to check off your list.
It should feel like meaningful time together.
If you missed this fall season, I encourage you to consider if your family might just be a spring or summer family at heart!
