There’s something timeless about capturing a newborn’s early days, and this session was especially meaningful. Set in a gorgeous historic home in the Mesta Park neighborhood of Oklahoma City, Ivy’s in-home newborn session was a beautiful blend of tender moments, personal details, and the warmth of family. As an OKC newborn photographer, I feel honored each and every time that I am invited into these sacred spaces where so many memories are made.
The Mesta Park home where Ivy’s session took place was the perfect backdrop. The home’s character gave every photo a feeling of classic charm.
One of my favorite elements was the artwork in the nursery — the four stunning pieces above the crib and one above the dresser – all created by Ivy’s dad. His talent added such a personal touch to the space, making it a beautiful representation of their family’s story.
Oh, Ivy! At 6 weeks old, she may have been past the typical 2-week newborn window, but her session was pure magic. Older newborns like Ivy bring their own unique charm: like those wide-eyed gazes and sweet eye contact that makes everyone in the room melt! It’s proof that every stage has its own special kind of beauty to capture. ✨
As a newborn photographer in Oklahoma City, I’ve had the honor of photographing “newborns” up to 12 weeks old. While those first few weeks are popular for their sleepy, curled-up poses, there’s truly no “perfect” time for your session. Whether it’s dreamy snuggles or curious stares, your baby’s unique personality shines through at any age—and I’m here to document it all in a way that fits your family’s timeline.
This session carried an extra layer of meaning as the family honored their first daughter Emerson, “Emmi,” who gained her angel wings after only a few weeks here earthside. In some of the photos, you’ll notice three bracelets on Mom’s wrist, holding the names of all 3 of their precious girls.
In Ivy’s nursery, we thoughtfully captured details to honor Emerson, such as her tiny footprints and hospital keepsakes. Capturing these tender mementos was a very moving experience, and I felt deeply honored to help tell this family’s story in a way that lovingly celebrated all of their daughters.
Ivy’s 2-year-old big sister was a little shy at first, but my gentle (and admittedly silly!) approach won her over quickly. She couldn’t stop giggling at my fake sneezes, and soon she was happily posing with her new baby sister. Her proud smiles and curious glances at Ivy made for some of the sweetest moments of the day.
And we can’t forget the family’s dog, who was eager to join in on the fun! Pets are always welcome at my sessions—they’re such an important part of your family, and their personalities add an extra layer of fun to the photos.
Newborn photography isn’t just about capturing how your baby looks—it’s about preserving the love and connection of this season of life. For Ivy’s family, these photos tell a story of joy, resilience, love, and hope.
Whether your baby is just a few days or a few weeks old, these moments deserve to be remembered. As an OKC Newborn Photographer, I strive to document every session in a way that is unique to your family.
